Amangani Reopens This Summer: Inside Aman's Jackson Hole Reset

Aman almost never reinvents a property. The brand opens new ones constantly, but lets the old ones age into their own. Amangani is the exception. The ridge-top lodge above Jackson Hole was Aman's first North American property when it opened in 1998, and after 28 years, it has been closed since April 2025 for the most significant overhaul of its life. It reopens this summer, and it is, quietly, the most interesting domestic luxury reset of 2026.
The work is being led by Kerry Hill Architects, the same firm behind the original building. All 40 suites have been gutted and rebuilt. A new presidential suite has been carved out. The spa has expanded by roughly 7,000 square feet. And the dining program has been rewritten around two restaurants that Aman wants to define the property for the next 25 years.
The setup on Gros Ventre Butte
Amangani sits on a butte above the Snake River valley, seven miles from the town of Jackson and roughly 12 miles from Jackson Hole Airport (JAC), the only commercial airport inside a U.S. national park. From Oklahoma City, the routing is straightforward: OKC to Denver (DEN) on United, then a 75-minute hop to JAC. The drive from the airport climbs into a sagebrush plateau, and the lodge appears as a low Wyoming-quartzite block locked into the hillside, almost invisible until you are at the door.
Ed Tuttle, the architect who designed the original Aman Puri in Phuket and many other early Amans, drew this one too. Floor-to-ceiling windows in every suite face the Tetons. The infinity pool runs straight at the Grand. The property has always held one of the great mountain views in American hospitality. The bones did not need fixing. The interiors did.
What is new at reopening
Six things to know about the rebuild:
Forty suites, rebuilt. Every guestroom has been taken to the studs. The signature Wyoming-stone fireplaces stay. Soaking tubs are larger. Bathrooms are stone-clad and substantially wider, with a reworked seating layout in the main room.
A new presidential suite. The Teton County Board of County Commissioners approved an expansion adding roughly 7,000 square feet of floor area, which absorbs the presidential category and a new suite tier above the standard rooms.
A larger Aman Spa. Additional treatment rooms have been added. The outdoor heated pool, Jacuzzis, and steam rooms are retained. A new wellness wing connects indoor treatment to an outdoor cold plunge and a meditation pavilion.
Two restaurants, sharper concepts. The Grill remains, refocused on Wyoming beef, game, and seasonal valley produce. Nama, the Aman Japanese concept that runs from Tokyo to Venice, lands at Amangani for the first time. A wine cellar and lounge sits between them.
Kerry Hill, with restraint. The firm has kept Ed Tuttle's stone-and-cedar palette and added warmer textiles, sheepskin throws, and bronze finishes. There is no attempt to make this feel like a new building. It feels like the same lodge, finally finished.
Same view, sharpened. The infinity pool deck has been reworked to push the visual line further west. The lobby fireplace remains. The art program has been rebuilt around contemporary American Western artists.
Why it matters for the Mountain West
American luxury hotels almost never close for a full year to rebuild themselves. The math rarely works. Owners take incremental refreshes. Amangani's owners committed to a 14-month closure on a property that was operating at well above 80 percent occupancy. That tells you what Aman believes the next 25 years of Jackson Hole demand will look like.
It is also a useful read on where ultra-luxury is going in the American West. Aman is not the only one. Caldera House has added rooms. Snake River Lodge has taken a serious refresh. The Tetons quietly became the most concentrated luxury market in the Mountain West, and Amangani is now the most fully realized version of what the segment is becoming.
For Oklahoma-based travelers, Wyoming is a uniquely sensible summer trip. Roughly three to four hours of flight time, the same time zone, and you trade Oklahoma City's July heat for low-70s daytime highs at 6,300 feet. Haus Travel has been planning Wyoming and Yellowstone-area trips for clients since 1975.
Cost and booking window
Pre-closure, Amangani's rates ran roughly $2,167 to $3,930 per night, with the larger suite categories landing higher in winter and shoulder months. Expect the reopening rate card to start near $2,800 in summer and run past $6,000 for the new presidential suite. Aman has historically priced reopened properties at a premium that holds for the first 18 to 24 months.
Summer 2026 (July through early September) is already filling. Fall, mid-September to mid-October when the cottonwoods turn, is the highest-value window for couples and small groups who want quiet trails and elk rut viewing. Winter ski-in clients should look at January for less crowd density and better snow than the holiday peak.
Book six to nine months out for summer and the holidays. Three to four months can still work for fall and shoulder season.
What to ask before you book
Which suite category has the best Teton view? Not all of them are equal, and the new tiering means the floor plate has shifted. Ask for a category 4 or higher for the direct Grand Teton sight line.
What is included in the rate? Aman's restaurant credits, breakfast policy, and resort fee vary by season and rate class. Confirm what is included before deposit.
Is the spa available for non-treatment use? The pool, steam rooms, and relaxation areas are typically included. Some treatment rooms and the cold plunge require separate booking.
What is the Grand Teton National Park access plan? Amangani can pre-book park entries, private guides, and helicopter day trips. None of this is included by default.
Is the airport routing realistic for your dates? Inbound from OKC requires a Denver connection, and JAC weather diversions happen. Build a flex day on either side.
How Haus Travel can help
Haus Travel has direct booking relationships with Aman across Amangani, Amangiri, and the broader Aman portfolio. Booking through us, your reservation includes a confirmed welcome amenity, full breakfast daily for two, a property credit (typically $150 to $200 per stay), and where availability allows, a complimentary suite upgrade at check-in. None of this comes through if you book direct on the Aman site.
We also coordinate the parts of a Jackson trip that the property does not handle: charter coordination from Oklahoma City to JAC for groups of four or more, private guides for Grand Teton and Yellowstone, river guides for Snake River fishing, and helicopter charters into the Tetons. If you want to combine Amangani with Amangiri in Utah for a two-week Western loop, we book those itineraries regularly and know which order works best by season. Email blake@haus-travel.com or call the Oklahoma City office to get started.
